About Us / History

Edison is founded by Jason K. Truman, a family descendent of the famous inventor and entrepreneur Thomas Edison for whom the firm is named after. It is not well known in Canada but the Edison family, Thomas’s grandfather, settled in Ontario south of London after the Civil War of 1812. The Truman family patriarch also settled in the same area in 1818 and by circa 1843 a Truman and an Edison were married.

A former summer construction worker and laborer, Mr. Truman earned a bachelor of applied sciences degree in civil engineering from the University of Waterloo. After graduating he worked with Halsall Associates Ltd. where he became a certified Professional Engineer and quickly earned increased responsibilities as a Project Manager and Service Manager for Reserve Fund Studies in southwestern Ontario. He would leave Halsall for a short time with Trow Associates Ltd. before becoming Vice President and partner in TS Inc. where he managed the Hamilton office and continued to expand his engineering, construction and management expertise.

Jason is currently President of Edison. He personifies the foundation of hard work and integrity upon which Edison is built and for which the great Thomas A. Edison was renowned for.
